Massage Therapy

Take Charge of Your Well-Being

Massage therapy is an ancient integrative medicine where the soft tissues of the body are manipulated by hands-on techniques to apply pressure, hold, or move muscle and body tissue.

At Lighthouse Wellness Center we offer a variety of massage therapies to suit your individual needs. Options include Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports massage, pre-natal, reflexology and trigger point massage. Our therapists will work with you to customize your massage to be the most beneficial based on your symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect?

Before treatment, we will do an initial evaluation to understand any symptoms you are currently experiencing and any previous treatments you've recently undergone.

Massage therapy appointments are typically in 30 minute increments. When you book your appointment, please let us know how long you would prefer your massage to be.

Please wear loose-fitting clothing to your appointment as you will be laying comfortable on the treatment table. Your therapist may use oil or lotion to reduce friction on the skin during treatment. Your therapist will review the type of massage you will receive and discuss the techniques involved. Do not hesitate to ask questions or let the therapist know if the pressure is too much or too little.

Please note, you may be sore following your massage but you should not be experiencing pain or discomfort. We recommend upping your water intake to stay hydrated following your appointment.

Are there risks?

While there are very few risks, massage therapy may not be appropriate for some people. Please let us know if you have:

  • Bleeding disorders or take blood-thinning medication
  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Healing wounds
  • Fractured bones
  • Osteoporosis
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Are Pregnant

Do you offer reflexology?

Yes! Reflexology is a great relaxation technique. Reflexes of the foot, hand or ear correspond to each gland, organ and part of the body. Stimulation of these reflexes serves to relax and normalize all functions of the body in order to promote a natural balance and revitalization.
